‘Introduction to the Energy Transition’ course by Apolitical

The global energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by three key pillars: decarbonisation, decentralisation, and digitalisation. Each pillar is crucial for creating sustainable, efficient, and resilient future energy systems. 

In this comprehensive course, you will gain insights into policy frameworks and key technologies that are pivotal in advancing the energy transition. You will learn how governments at all levels can implement these changes at scale. The course, informed by leading experts in energy and systems-level change, blends theory and practice, exploring real-world applications of innovative energy solutions. 

Course Highlights: 

  • Understand the Importance of the Energy Transition: Explore the significance of the energy transition for government, society, and the climate. 
  • Infrastructure, Technology, Investment, and Workforce: Learn about the critical components driving the energy transition. 
  • Stakeholder Roles and Collaboration: Recognise the various stakeholders in the energy system and strategies to incentivise collaboration. 
  • Governance for Clean Energy Solutions: Determine appropriate governance models for implementing clean energy solutions across different types of localities. 

This year, participants will have the opportunity to engage in two special events designed to enhance the learning experience: 

  • Mid-Course Masterclass: Gain deeper insights and interact with experts in a mandatory live, interactive session. 
  • End-of-Course Sharing Lesson: Share your experiences and learnings with peers, fostering a community of practice and collaboration. 

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Explain the importance of the energy transition and its implications for government, society, and the climate. 

Outline the significance of infrastructure, technology, investment, and workforce in the energy transition. Establish appropriate governance frameworks for implementing clean energy solutions across various regions. 

Identify the roles of different stakeholders in the energy system and how to promote effective collaboration.

Course Details

To apply for the ‘Introduction to the Energy Transition for Policymakers’ course, you will need to complete an application form. Due to limited availability and to ensure a diverse cohort of applicants, we will evaluate applications and select applicants based on the course’s alignment with their day-to-day responsibilities and geographic location to achieve regional representation across across the UK. Please note that only public sector applicants are eligible.

  • Results communicated: 16 August 2024 
  • Course starts: 16 September 2024 (Approx 7.5 hours)

We are offering two courses simultaneously. While you have the option to apply for both, we recommend choosing either one course or indicating your preference in application to ensure you get the most out of your learning experience. Each course has 25 spaces available.
